ビール評論家、M・ジャクソンが命名。
名前のとおり淡く美しい金色で、アルコール度数が高くコクはあるが口当たりはまろやか。
度数の高いものは、とくに「ストロング・ゴールデン・エール」という。

“Golden ale” means the style of the beers which is beautiful gold colored and rich alcohol, but smooth taste.
Especially high alcohol one is called “Strong Golden Ale”.
